Shipping Packer - DLA Guam

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Shipping Packer prepares finished products for shipment or storage by placing them in shipping containers, the specific operations performed being dependent upon the type, size, and number of units to be packed, the type of container employed, and method of shipment.  Shipping Packer also completes basic warehouse functions such as counts, pick and or stows as directed

  • Understand and meet the productivity goals associated with assigned functional area / process and achieve satisfactory scores on periodic evaluations.
  • Work requires the placing of items in shipping containers, and may involve one or more of the following:
    1. knowledge of various items of stock in order to verify content
    2. selection of appropriate type and size of container
    3. inserting item(s) into appropriate shipping container
    4. using dunnage or other material to support or prevent damage while in transit
    5. closing and sealing container, and applying labels or entering identifying data on container.
  • Ability to complete basic distribution functions such as; receiving, induction, stowing, issue, pick, inventory, transshipments, Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS).
  • Communicate to Compliance Team (Inventory, Customer Service, and Quality Control) system discrepancies that cannot be resolved.
  • Utilize e-mails for workload tasks and teammate information.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with all areas and levels of the Distribution Center.
  • Understand the Acceptable Performance Levels (APL's) associated with assigned functional area / work process and work expeditiously and accurately towards meeting defined contractual and team goals.
  • Follows established guidelines in performing day-to-day routine tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Job Breakdown sheets (JBS)and Technical Manuals.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  • Adhere to Government and Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in association with established Warehouse Management Plan, Inventory Control Plan/Stock Readiness, QC Plan & workload requirements.

Uses DSS and other Government Data Systems to perform the requirements in the contract. 

 

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

 

Specialized Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines
  • Skilled in planning, controlling, managing, and being responsible for the successful completion of work requirements

Experienced in inventory and/or supply management

 

Skills:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen and possess a valid Driver's License
  • Attention to detail and excellent follow up skills
  • Fluency in English and be able to communicate effectively, to include speaking and writing in English
  • Experience with Hazardous Materiel Storage and Shipments

Experience with overseas projects

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, and capable of working indoors and outdoors as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment.

Must possess or able to obtain a secret security clearance and military Common Access Card (CAC) within 30 days if required.
