Security Specialist - DLA Jacksonville

The Security Specialist performs the surveillance, inspections and contractor operations which includes security regulations, policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for analyzing, planning, advising, operating, and evaluating the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss. Responsible for the efficient and effective processing procedural and service guidelines supporting all activities relating to clearance applications and aftercare of cleared employees, as well as site security.

Duties:

• Responsible for program planning, program evaluation, identifying and resolving security related issues, and advising organizational leadership on appropriate Physical Security, Operational Security (OPSEC) and Antiterrorism/ Force Protection (AT/FP) measures. 
• Develop, evaluate, maintain and/or operate systems, policies, devices, procedures, and methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and materials; and/or developing and implementing policies and procedures for analyzing and evaluating the character, background, and history of employees, candidates for employment, and other persons.
• Report security deviation or Practices Dangerous to Security (PDS), to include Communications Security (COMSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), etc.
• Develop and enforce a security plan and train contractor employees on their responsibility.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in a relevant field, or a combination of both education and work experience or formal training
• Three (3) years of experience in the Physical Security, Operational Security (OPSEC) and Antiterrorism/Force Protection within the past five (5) years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Ability to write effective procedure manuals and business correspondence, and produce required reports
• Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly in Word and Excel. Visio experience is a plus
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
