Quality and Safety Compliance Specialist

The Quality and Safety Compliance Specialist creates, administers, and manages safety and quality assurance protocols and procedures across all company sites and for all employees. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills to provide oversight and management of safety compliance, quality and process improvement, reporting, and training and education for remote work locations serving US Department of Defense (DoD) customers.

Duties:

  • Development, implementation, and management of safety and quality policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Develop and maintain quality improvement process initiatives
  • Oversee routine quality and safety inspections to contract specifications and compliance at all work locations
  • Evaluate existing safety protocols at all work locations and provide recommendations for correction and alignment with contract regulations and safety compliance
  • Develop and deploy safety and quality trainings for site managers and employees
  • Ensure HAZMAT compliance is properly met at all work locations
  • Coordinate and maintain all required licensing and certifications regarding safety and quality compliance according to local, state, and federal rules and regulations
  • Administer and assure compliance with proper pre-employment, post-accident, and for cause drug screening and breath alcohol testing in accordance with contract and DOT regulations
  • Maintain accurate records for all injuries and incidents, and prepare and submit required OSHA logs and reports as required
  • Conduct post-accident investigations and reviews as necessary, and prepare mishap and near miss reports
  • Serve as liaison between corporate office and field work locations for all safety concerns and issues
  • Establish and foster a company culture of dedication to health and safety

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in a relevant field, or a combination of both education and work experience or formal training
  • 10 years of experience in quality and safety management, preferably as a lead or in a management capacity
    • Preferred: Department of Defense logistics or warehousing experience, or equivalent
  • Active OSHA 30-hour safety training certificate
  • Six Sigma certification or Lean Management certification, or the willingness to obtain such certifications
  • Experience with and knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management systems, certifications are a plus
  • OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) experience
  • Ability to write effective procedure manuals and business correspondence, and produce required reports
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly in Word and Excel. Visio experience is a plus
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
