Maintenance Trade Helper - Fort Gordon

Under general supervision, gains on the job experience supplemented by related instruction on trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill, such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools.

Duties:

• Cleans working area, machines, and equipment; assisting journeymen by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeymen
• The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade. In some trades, the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, and holding materials and tools, and cleaning working areas; and in others he is permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers on a full time basis
• Performs other related duties as required
• Responsible for conforming to all safe work practices and procedures

Qualifications:

• One year of experience comprised of related technical or vocational schools and/or work experience in a related trade.
• Must be able to read and comprehend technical manuals, publications and interpret mechanical specifications, tolerance limits and troubleshooting and repair techniques.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license and must be able to obtain applicable military driver's license within 30 days.
• Specific positions require individual to pass an annual physical examination.

Requirements:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable security investigation in order to be issued a Common Access Card
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Fluency in English and be able to communicate effectively to include speaking and writing in English
• Ability to be present at work each day and work the hours of the assigned shift
