ILDS Environmental Protection Assistant 2020

The Environmental Protection Assistant implements quality control and safety plans to ensure compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations, inspects all phases of a variety of goods, services or operation for conformity to established quality, health and safety, and other operational standards by performing on-going work for compliance with contractual provisions; ensures all services listed in the Performance Work Statement is performed in a satisfactory manner, specifies scheduled and unscheduled areas to be inspected and how often inspections will be accomplished; communicates deficiencies, maintains quality control files, and document results of all inspections.

Duties

• Assists Radiation Officer and Warehousing Section in the day-to-day operation of the FSDA Radiological Storage Facilities.
• Assists as FSDA sampling and wipe test coordinator for radiological items.
• Uses a database to maintain inventory and track all radiological materials to support FSD's mission.
• Prepares radiological material for disposal, prepares required documents, and coordinates the transfer of the material to the on-site disposal storage area.
• Performs quarterly sampling and wipe test based on radiological storage facility
• Serve as HAMAT coordinator for off site locations as required
• Provide status/production reports to the Site Manager as required
• Willing to travel on occasion to off-site locations.

Requirements

Successful candidates must possess:

• Attention to detail
• Excellent follow up skills
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance
• Current Hazardous Material Handling certification
• Ability to pass an Arms, Ammunition & Explosives Medical Screening
• Current USG Operator license
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to be present at work each day and work the hours of the assigned shift
