Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years' experience as a truck driver or heavy machinery/equipment operator or equivalent
• Accident-free and citation-free driving record within the last five (5) years

Description: The Truck driver drives a truck to transport materials, merchandise, equipment, or workers between various types of establishments such as: manufacturing plants, freight depots, warehouses, wholesale and retail establishments, or between retail establishments and customers' houses or places of business. This driver may also load or unload truck with or without helpers. Sales route and over-the-road drivers are excluded. An over-the-road driver regularly drives a truck over such a distance that the worker does not return to the departure point in the same workday, or is a worker who is paid on a mileage or mileage plus load factor basis, and may be compensated for or provided meals or lodging or both. For wage study purposes, Truck Drivers are classified by type and the rated capacity of truck. Rated capacity is the gross vehicle weight minus the empty weight of the vehicle.

The Heavy Truck Driver must be able to comply with each of the following:

• Should be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving vehicles (up to five (5) ton trucks). Applies state required special perception to judge overhead and side clearances of vehicle, turning radius, braking distance and distance from other vehicles in all road/weather conditions.
• Shall be required to operate material handling equipment such as pickup trucks (including 5-Ton truck) flatbeds, vans, forklifts up to 36K, and other material handling equipment to safely and efficiently load and unload vehicles.
• Must be knowledgeable of vehicle and handling equipment maintenance and operational requirements and safety inspections tasks prior to operation. Familiarity with and adherence to government installation, state and federal regulations governing operations of vehicles transporting passengers, cargo and hazmat to include ordnance is required.
• Must have skill in identifying potential safety hazards and taking appropriate preventive measures to mitigate damage or loss to personnel and equipment.
• Must have knowledge of reporting requirements and procedures of truck drivers to include trip tickets, preventative maintenance records, driver's log and accident reports.
• Must communicate clearly and concisely with supervisors, dispatchers and customers regarding the progress of work and the causes of work delays.

Requirements:

• Security Clearance (Secret)
• Forklift certification (up to 36,000 lbs.)
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable security investigation in order to be issued a Common Access Card
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Fluency in English and be able to communicate effectively to include speaking and writing in English
• Ability to be present at work each day and work the hours of the assigned shift
