Embarkation Specialist

The Embarkation Specialist is charged with preparing supplies and equipment for embarkation. This position performs various force deployment planning and execution functions to support the movement of people and goods across all modes of military transportation.

 Duties

  • Inspect, measure, weigh supplies and equipment for air, ship, rail, truck embarkation.
  • Mark cargo with military shipping labels and radio frequency identification tags as necessary.
  • Ensure equipment is palletized properly.
  • Ensure equipment liquid levels meet conveyance requirements.
  • Ensure MARCORLOGCOM placard with pertinent information is placed on cargo (ULN/TCN) as necessary.
  • Conduct accountability of cargo embark/disembarked.
  • Assist in the pre-joint inspection and joint inspection for cargo at aerial port of embarkation.
  • Submit embarkation data using MDSS II or AIS to fill source requirement.
  • Prepare load plans and hazardous cargo for Aircraft and Munitions of War Clearance Request (hazdip) for submission to the 618th Air Operations Center/ Tanker Airlift Control Center.
  • Assist with data for the Integrated Booking System.
  • Maintain 463L Pallet system aboard MCLB Albany for Force Deployment Planning and Execution (FDP&E) requirements.
  • Inspect 463L pallets and nets for serviceability.
  • Send unserviceable 463L pallets and nets to designated Air Force Base.
  • Support MARAD amphibious embarkation operations.
  • Assist in conducting ship loading operations.
  • Assist with lashing and unlashing cargo.
  • Assist with creating or updating ship load plans.
  • Prepare load plans for storage operations.
  • Print story board load plans for movement team.
  • Assist with the execution of the load plan.

 Requirements

Successful candidates must possess:

  • Full understanding and be able to articulate Marine Corps logistics processes, functions and operations with an emphasis on supply, warehousing, distribution, transportation and maintenance including but not limited to:
    • Global Combat Support System Marine Corps (GCSS MC)
    • Joint Container Management (JCM)
    • Automated Manifest System-TACTICAL II (AMS-TAC II)
    • Integrated Data Environment/ Global Transportation Network Convergence (IGC)
    • Joint Operation Planning and Execution Systems (JOPES)
    • MAGTF Deployment Support System II (MDSS II)
    • Defense Transportation Regulations
    • MS Office Business Suite
    • Single Mobility System (SMS)
    • Integrated Booking System (IBS)
    • Joint Force Requirement Generator (JFRG II)
    • Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable security investigation in order to be issued a Common Access Card
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance
  • Ability to pass an Arms, Ammunitions and Explosives Medical Screening
  • Current HAZMAT Handling certification
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Fluency in English and be able to communicate effectively to include speaking and writing in English
  • Ability to be present at work each day and work the hours of the assigned shift
