DDCN Transportation Supervisor

Job Summary

The Transportation Supervisor performs such tasks as program planning, program evaluation, and technical advisory assignments that require application of basic knowledge of traffic management principles and technical traffic functions. Uses WMS and other Government Data Systems resolving common error conditions, responds to computer output instructions or error conditions, following SOPs. Uses WMS and other Government Data Systems to perform the requirements in the PWS.

Essential Functions:

  • Understand and meet established productivity and quality control goals associated with assigned functional area / process.
  • Follow established guidelines in performing day-to-day routine tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Job Breakdown sheets (JBS), Technical Manuals, and Audit Readiness standards.
  • Adhere to government, contract and company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use e-mail to receive and disseminate workload tasks and information.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with co-workers, site management and CGA regarding operations and policies at the Distribution Center.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  • Plans the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials based on projected workload on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences IAW general work schedules, methods, and policies established by the Site Manager and/or Alternate Site Manager.
  • Redirects workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work and to accommodate daily workload fluctuations.
  • Conducts planning of current and future work schedules, providing workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as to the scheduling of projected work.
  • Ensures work is done properly and efficiently IAW the terms and condition of the contract.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in association with established Management and Contract Compliance Plan, Storage Plan and workload requirements.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • The employee may be required to frequently handle equipment/supplies weighing up to 50 pounds individually and occasionally items weighing in excess of 50 pounds with assistance
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort in the loading, unloading, and arranging of equipment/supplies as applicable to position.
  • Have the ability to work inside and/or outside in dirty and dusty environments, and occasionally be exposed to hot, cold, damp and drafty weather conditions while handling equipment/supplies.
  • Be able to perform work on hard or uneven surfaces.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Experience shall include a minimum three (3) years of experience in warehousing or transportation using WMS or equivalent automated WMS within the past five (5) years.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • Skilled in planning, controlling, executing, multi-tasking and being responsible for the successful completion of work requirements.

Skills:

  • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively read and write in English, and comprehend written instructions, perform common mathematical tasks, and communicate effectively.
  • Fully knowledgeable in all Government and Commercial Traffic Management functions and processes, to include international shipping requirements, laws, and procedures

Certificate, License, Registration, etc.:

  • US Citizen
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance applicable to the position and/or military Common Access Card (CAC) within 30 days if required.
  • Successful completion of WMS training and associated DLA SOP.
  • Requires successful completion of Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) compliance training and Hazardous Materials Preparer Certification IAW Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR) Part II, Cargo Movement, Chapter 204-7, Training, DLAI 4145.3 Preparing Hazardous Material for Military Air Shipment, and DLAI 1307, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Training for Packaging and Transportation Personnel Process Guidance.
  • Completion of company mandated training applicable to position.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License

Education

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hazardous materiel storage and shipments
  • Military or DLA experience
