DDCN Shipping Packer-PPPM - 2nd shift - Part Time

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow detailed procedures to perform routine packing work.
• Use knowledge of routine packing procedures, techniques, and equipment as well as basic warehouse procedures to package items for storage.
• Complete manual and computerized forms and shipping documents regarding stock description, units of issue, weight, quantity, and labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials and equipment.
• Check work orders (packing, shipping, and storage documents) to determine the number and type of items to be packed, and to ensure that the items received packing match those described in the documents.
• Utilize e-mails for workload tasks and teammate information.
• Communicate in a positive manner with all areas and levels of the Distribution Center.
• Follows established guidelines in performing day-to-day routine tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Technical Manuals such as (MIL-STD-2073, MIL-STD-129P).
• Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
• Adhere to Government and Company policies and procedures.
• Other duties assigned in association with locally established warehouse management plan & workload requirements.

Education:

• High school graduate or equivalent required.

Experience:

• Experience using warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and handcarts.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines and practices.

Specialized Knowledge

• Demonstrate expertise to complete tasks assigned within functional area of responsibility.
• Computer literate on desktop computer operating system (Microsoft Office) and Warehouse Management System is a plus.

Skills

• Must be U.S. Citizen and possess a valid Driver's License.
• Attention to detail and excellent follow up skills.
• Fluency in English and be able to communicate effectively, to include speaking and writing in English.
• Ability to operate a computer terminal, bar code and document scanners.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, and capable of working indoors and outdoors as necessary.
• Ability to work on hard surfaces in areas that require frequent standing, stooping, and bending.
• Ability to work in areas that are sometimes dusty, dirty, and greasy.
• Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
• Must possess or able to obtain military Common Access Card (CAC) within 30 days if required.
