Alternate Site Manager/Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Alternate Site Manager / Operations Manager (ASM/OM) shall provide overall distribution center management coordination and serve as a central point of contact for a U.S. Government contract to perform receipt, storage (to include stock readiness functions), issue functions, and cross-docking and/or transshipment operations for a combat support organization providing a single, unified material distribution system for the DoD. The ASM/OM shall have full authority to act for the Contractor on all matters relating to Contract Performance in the absence of the Site Manager.


Essential Functions:

  • Possess and apply the knowledge and skills required to plan, control, manage, and successfully complete the work
  • Provides overall supervision for the Contractor employees to include, but not limited to:
    • Planning and managing the contract professionally
    • Coaching and mentoring supervisors and leads ensuring that work is scheduled properly to obtain maximum use of resources
    • Ensuring that accurate and timely reports are provided
    • Effective supervision to prevent inefficient or wasteful methods in the performance of services ordered
    • Execute cost saving factors and quality controls to ensure work is performed as scheduled and at a fair and reasonable cost.
  • Problem solving, decision making, data interpretation, and organization
  • Coordinate and work with other managers to ensure functions between departments operate efficiently and smoothly.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Research, analyze and implement methods of increasing productivity, including efficient space utilization and mechanical devices.
  • Manage and meet contractual and Company performance requirements. Provide timely and accurate records and reports as required.
  • Adhere to Government and Company policies and procedures.
  • Practices physical security and commitment to safety practices

Qualifications

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in Distribution Management, OR
  • At least three (3) years of experience distribution management, OR
  • At least seven (7) years of progressive management experience in distribution operations similar in size and complexity to the operation offered in this contract
  • Two (2) years of experience using automated warehouse management systems within the past five (5) years

Skills:

  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and comprehend written instructions, perform common mathematical tasks, and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent supervisory, presentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all management, and non-management levels of contractor and customer (government contacts)
  • Convey ideas and work techniques through excellent oral and written skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Fluent speaking, writing, and reading in English

Certificate, License, Registration, etc.:

  • S. Citizen
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Required to obtain a Secret security clearance or higher and/or a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)

Education

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Distribution Management, Business Management, or Business Administration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Any relevant certifications (project management, inventory management, supply chain management, etc.)
  • Military Experience
  • Current and relevant experience serving as an Alternate Site Manager
